MY STORY

REALIZING MY GOALS

I grew up on a farm and was always very active.  Daily work feeding cows, horses, and pigs were part of our everyday life, which I fully enjoyed and still do, to this day.  My entire family –including parents, brother and his family, grandkids, and my children all live on a large farm surrounded by the woods. where we work together, have lots of picnics, and eat family dinners together several times a week.

My fitness career began during college, whenever I found myself away from home for the first time, lost, and struggling with life changes. A counselor recommended becoming a fitness instructor. I took the reins into my own hands and so my DEEP passion for fitness and health began.  I received a Bachelors degree in Psychology, which was an opportunity to explore my love for the human mind and how we think. A few years ago, I returned to college and received my Master of Science degree in Fitness Management with the goal to focus even more on fitness and health and motivating people to change their lives.

LIVING THE DREAM

As the decades have passed, changes in the fitness industry have occurred.  But unfortunately, health issues and obesity in our country continue to get worse.  Throughout the past 30+ years, not only have I been a fitness instructor, but also a Personal Trainer and Life Coach. The area of Life Coaching is broad, which allows me to educate my clients to learn that “dieting” isn’t about losing weight. My focus is overall mental, physical and emotional health.  Educating people about nutrition, sleep, hormone levels, bone density problems, health issues, metabolism, stress, gut disorders, weight lifting, cardio, heart rates, and overall long term lifestyle changes.

What Rhonda doesn’t write about in her bio is the size of her heart and her compassion for her clients. Rhonda taught me about isolating muscles when doing certain exercises. She showed me how to find every muscle I have. She showed me how to lift weights to created long lean muscles instead of bulky ones! On top of that, she taught me about nutrition and helped me understand that food is good, but its ultimate purpose is fuel for our bodies. This understanding helped me listen to my body more and I stopped eating just because it was “time to eat” or because of other habits I had developed.  This has been a huge game-changer for me and my body!
I taught PE and coached high school girls basketball at this time and she came in and talked to my girls about what they could be doing to change their body image themselves. She didn’t tell them to try to achieve the media’s image of the woman’s body, but to change their image of their own bodies by embracing it and making it strong.
